La Mesa Modern

Located on a lot within one of the main boulevards bisecting the City of La Mesa in San Diego County, resides the proposed site for the three story apartment building. The project is comprised of twelve 2-bedrooms, four 1-bedrooms and a ground level parking garage. Fourteen of the units have private decks and all have access to the second floor platform that became the ‘park’ of the project. Trees, seating and punctures that allow natural light and ventilation into the parking garage proliferate the platform. The site consisted of steep slopes and a four-plex from the 1940’s that was incorporated into the design. The four-plex’s original envelope was reused but the floor plans were re-envisioned for modern living.
